Sleepover!!

I am happy to report that the twins had their first sleepover last night!!!!  I never thought that would ever happen, let alone this early.

We had asked my brother to take Jayna over night because we were hosting my father in law's 60th birthday party at our place.  My brother proceeded to tell me that they would take all three children.  I told him that I wouldn't hold him to it, but that would be great.  He kept telling me that they were willing to take all three.  I gave him many chances to back out of his promise to take all three and I even texted him before I walked out of the house to drop them off and said it was his last chance to change his mind.

Just after I sent that message, he texted me to say that they were going to take all three children, plus their two children for breakfast the next day!!!  I actually sat in my van and laughed out loud.  I knew they could handle it, plus they were meeting two people so there would almost be a one to one ratio anyway.  Even better was the fact that they kept the kids till 3 o'clock on Sunday.

Derrick and I almost didn't know what to do with ourselves.....just kidding.  We were able to sleep till 9 and not have to get out of bed instantly.  We then went for breakfast where I ate and Derrick sat across the table from me looking like he was going to vomit (the shots last night came back to haunt him this morning).  When we got home, we cleaned up a bit and then had a nap which was not determined in length by how long our children were quiet for.

It was a great evening and a great day.  Yes, I loved having a break from my children, but I was also looking forward to seeing them at the end of it all.  It's really nice to miss your kids and have a chance to feel a bit rejuvenated.  I feel like a new person, like I can survive the craziness once again.

Thank you to my brother and his girlfriend for taking our kids and allowing us to have a bit of a break.  I'm sure it wasn't easy, but you have no idea how much it meant to us and how helpful it was.  I'm so lucky to have such a great brother!

  1. Wow, that must have been amazing! This is something Mark and I REALLY need to do! We have not done this yet. Our kids have never been away from us for a sleep over yet. I know, we're dumb! You've encouraged me to get on it!

Glad you could have some time to rejuvenate!!

  2. Yes Lisa, you really do need to do it. You will for sure miss your three turkeys, but it's so nice to not have to worry about any children and just enjoy things as they used to be! I'm sure that once you do it, you and Mark will not believe you waited that long!!! Good luck.
